Straight answers

The questions people ask after the installer finishes, not before the ad.

Free versus paid, Word compatibility, Linux packages, ads, AI quotas, Store ID 9NSGM705MQWC, cloud gigabytes, and the uninstall that leaves Microsoft Office looking broken. This is an independent FAQ. Official binaries stay on Kingsoft’s site and the stores.

How to use this page

If you only need the program, use the download hub. The rest assumes you already met the ribbon and now have a sharper question: is free enough, will a teacher’s DOCX survive, is this website Kingsoft, and why ads or AI nags appeared on day two. Answers are handbook notes, not vendor policy. When a number may drift, we say “about” and point at wps.com. Crashes and association repairs live on troubleshooting; longer walkthroughs live on guides.

Common questions

Yes for the work most people mean by “office.” Writer, Spreadsheet, Presentation, and a PDF reader install without a card. That is a real Standard tier, not a three-day demo that watermarks the file. What is not free is comfort: banner ads on some skins, extra WPS Cloud, OCR, batch PDF convert, and some template packs. Official 2026 pricing on wps.com listed a free tier, Pro+ of a few dollars a month when billed yearly, and a sharing plan near $2.49 per user per month. Those figures move — read the buy page. Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint still belong to Microsoft 365.
Yes. DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX are daily formats, not a conversion afterthought. A classmate’s paper, a supplier quote, or a client deck usually opens as a usable file. Failures that matter are specific: a rare font that reflowed a title page, a chart that used an Excel feature WPS maps poorly, a VBA macro that should stay on Excel, or a locked corporate template. Set Microsoft formats as defaults on day one. When layout must not change, export PDF and reopen it in a second viewer.
No. Kingsoft’s product home is wps.com. The official download center is wps.com/download. This domain is an independent English handbook. We do not wear a Kingsoft logo as if we were the company. We do not host installers. We cannot see your WPS Cloud, reset a password, or issue Premium. If a search ad implied otherwise, that is the ad’s problem — read about and the footer on every page. Bookmark the vendor URL for the binary and this site for the notes.
Yes. Kingsoft publishes official Deb and RPM packages from its Linux page (see the Linux notes). Prefer those over old community archives and blog copies. After install, plan time for fonts: Calibri, Wingdings, and other Windows staples often collapse into boxes on a clean Ubuntu image. That is a fonts problem, not a corrupt download. If a campus PPTX looks wrong, add a symbol and core-fonts pack before you file a suite bug.
Kingsoft funds the free desktop skin with ads plus Premium instead of locking your files. Ads can be loud; they are still different from malware. A banner inside a signed vendor build is a product choice. A “WPS Office 2026 Full Ads-Free.exe” from a forum is a different object. If ads interrupt a live presentation, pay, present from PDF, or switch suites for that hour — do not disable antivirus to silence a nag. See free versus Premium when you can decide calmly.
Free WPS AI is a taste: draft a paragraph, summarize a PDF, sketch slide titles, or ask about a local file. Daily counts and model access are the usual walls, and exact quotas change, so we will not tattoo a number here. The limit that does not change is judgment. AI will invent a citation, misread a table, and sound sure — verify every figure. Skip the feature until you have a task that is actually tedious; you do not need AI to type a letter in Writer.
Safe enough when the file comes from Kingsoft or a named store; unsafe the same way any office suite is unsafe when you open a stranger’s macro. The distinctive risk is the download path. Stay on the official download center, the Microsoft Store listing, Google Play, or the App Store. Confirm the publisher. SmartScreen on a freshly signed installer is not automatic proof of evil; a blog button that wants “allow anyway” after antivirus flags it is a delete. Longer notes: is WPS Office safe.
9NSGM705MQWC is the Microsoft Store catalog ID for Kingsoft’s Windows package. Match apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nsgm705mqwc and ignore look-alike tiles. The publisher must read Kingsoft Office Software Corporation Limited. Store installs update through Windows, which some labs prefer. The website installer from wps.com is still what many power users want. If two tiles appear, read the publisher, not the icon.
Plan around about 1 GB free and around 20 GB on common paid plans. Those match recent Kingsoft product copy; they are not a contract. Promotions and school tenants differ. You can decline Cloud and keep files on one disk. Phone–PC sync is the reason to turn it on. If C: is already tight, watch local cache too — Cloud off does not always mean cache off. See the guides after week one.
It can break the handoff, which feels like a break. Word may still sit in Program Files while a DOCX opens nothing, opens missing Writer, or opens a Store stub. Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF have the same story. Uninstallers sometimes leave WPS owning those extensions or clear the table and walk away. That is not deleting Microsoft 365. Repair Office, then reset defaults — see clean uninstall and troubleshooting. If you keep both suites, set associations before you remove either one.
No. Local files do not require a login. Create an account when you want Cloud sync, device roaming, or features the client gates behind a sign-in. Skip it on a shared lab PC. Do not reuse your bank password. This handbook cannot recover that account — see contact.
Only from named channels: wps.com/download for the website installer, Microsoft Store 9NSGM705MQWC for the Store package, Google Play (cn.wps.moffice_eng) for Android, and App Store id609397708 for iPhone and iPad. Linux Deb/RPM come from Kingsoft’s Linux page. This site never hosts those files. The download page is a map, not a mirror.

Questions this FAQ will not pretend to close

We will not certify WPS Cloud for a hospital records rule, promise identical VBA results, or rank Kingsoft for a government tender. Those are local IT decisions. What we can say is narrower: use official channels, expect Microsoft formats to work for ordinary files, expect ads and quotas on free, expect Linux fonts to need a second session, and expect uninstall to touch associations. Buying advice lives on WPS versus Microsoft. Wrong-file panic belongs on the official URL, not a mirror. Corrections: contact the editors.
